To help give a visual revamp to the Jianghailanwan Tourist Resort in Qidong – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – the Communist Youth League working committee there recently carried out a voluntary activity, inviting college students who are Qidong locals to beautify the seawall through a richly colored painting.

Twenty-four students from different colleges and universities worked together in the endeavor.

Zhang Jiaqing, a student majoring in environmental art at Fuzhou University, was the activity leader. Before the Spring Festival, Zhang took the initiative to talk to officials from the resort's planning and construction department about a suitable painting location.

With the theme of ocean ecology, Zhang led his team to carefully conceive and select visual subjects – such as fish, sea grass, starfish, coral reefs and reeds – to create a great work.

After the Spring Festival holiday ended, the college student volunteers immediately committed themselves to the seawall mural and the cold weather didn't dampen their enthusiasm.

After three days of work, two important sites on the seawall acquired a fresh and inspiring new look.
