Jiangsu Highstar Group – based in the county level city of Qidong, administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – is one of the first generation of high-tech companies that specializes in the research, development, production and sales of lithium-ion power batteries in China.

To date, it has established long-term industry-university-research cooperative relationships with various universities and research institutes. These include the University of Science and Technology of China, Southeast University, the Shanghai Institute of Space Power-Sources and many others.

A comprehensive scientific research base has been formed – that integrates scientific research, information exchanges, commercialization of sci-tech achievements, innovation experiments and talent exchanges.

Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Highstar Group, is said to have achieved many remarkable results from the industry-university-research cooperation. Over the past three years, Highstar has obtained 10 authorized patents, nine of which are patents for invention and one a patent for utility models.

Last year, Highstar Group generated revenue of over 2.9 billion yuan ($463.3 million), a year-on-year increase of 120.6 percent. The revenue of Highstar Battery topped 2.2 billion yuan, up 130.3 percent on the previous year.
