Rudong county acts to boost e-commerce in rural areas
With the rapid development of the "internet+" and livestreaming economy nationally in recent years, e-commerce has played an increasingly important role in propelling economic growth generally – and e-commerce platforms have become a vital driving force to help local agricultural products sell well.
In 2020, Rudong county – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – got the green light for it to become a national model county for developing e-commerce in rural areas and it received 20 million yuan ($3.14 million) as a special construction fund.
In October last year, the county launched a project to boost e-commerce development in its rural areas.
At present, a comprehensive e-commerce service center covering 1,200 square meters has completed basic decorations. The center integrates functions for training, livestreaming, research, development and marketing.
What's more, 13 town-level e-commerce service stations and 103 village-level ones have been built or are being renovated in Rudong.

In addition, in order to improve the logistics system in its rural areas, Rudong also plans to construct an e-commerce logistics delivery center.
Moving forward, Rudong will focus on brand development, training people and improving logistics and parcel distribution services at the county, town and village levels.
