Liquefied natural gas or LNG tanker the Pan Asia from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was berthed on Jan 4 at the Guanghui LNG terminal – located at the Lyusi Port in the county-level city of Qidong in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province – the first such vessel the port greeted in 2022.
During the past year, the Guanghui LNG terminal received 37 vessels and unloaded 2.2 million tons of LNG.
Guanghui Energy Comprehensive Logistics Development Co Ltd – which funded the terminal – generated taxable sales of over 1 billion yuan ($157 million) in 2021, becoming the first company in Qidong to break the 1-billion-yuan barrier last year.
At present, the company has two 200,000-cubic-meter LNG tanks and support facilities, including gasification equipment and export pipes, under construction.
By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), plans are for the Guanghui LNG terminal to have storage capacity of 1.02 million cu m.
The imported LNG products will be transported to satisfy the demand of the East China region and its surrounding provinces and cities.
