Nantong public cultural centers win national recognition

Three public cultural centers in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, have recently won the 2021 National Most Beautiful Public Cultural Space Competition, local media reported on Jan 4.

The competition received more than 1,600 entries from around the country. After rounds of selections, Haoxi Library, Nantong Eminent Figures Museum, and Huaxia Film Museum in Nantong stood out, with the first winning the top 100 public cultural spaces award and the latter two recognized as outstanding public cultural spaces.

Haoxi Library houses 20,000 books and has areas for drinking coffee and reading. Opening in early 2020, the library has encouraged social organizations to carry out more than 50 reading promotion activities.

Located within the 5A-level Haohe scenic area, the Nantong Eminent Figures Museum opened to the public on June 29, 2021 and displays information on 1,943 people who were born in Nantong or grew up there, from ancient times to the modern day.

Huaxia Film Museum is located in Rugao, a county-level city administered by Nantong, and has a focus on collecting and repairing classic films as well as the technological development of motion picture techniques.

The museum currently houses more than 200,000 collections, including film projectors, film copies, film scripts, and posters.
