The production and sales volumes of traditional Chinese medicine Wang Shi Bao Chi Wan – exclusively produced by Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd – has surged in the current year, with a year-on-year increase of over 50 percent, according to local media reports.

The manufacturer – located in the Nantong Gangzha Economic Development Zone in the Chongchuan district of Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage bases in the city.

With a history going back over a century, Wang Shi Bao Chi Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine used mostly to treat digestive problems. In June this year, the techniques for making the medicine made the list of the fifth group of national intangible cultural heritage items.
