The Nantong delegation consisting of 180 companies signed 300 intended purchase orders worth $600 million at the fourth China International Import Expo, which was held from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai.

This outlay at the expo represents a 20 percent year-on-year increase.

The Nantong delegation purchased more than $300 million worth of technical equipment during the expo, accounting for more than 57 percent of the total intended orders. The intended spending on food and agricultural products was over $90 million while that of consumer goods was about $70 million.

Germany, Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, and France were the five countries and regions that received the largest intended purchase orders from the Nantong delegation, accounting for 66.2 percent of the total orders.

Private companies were still the main contributors as they placed nearly 70 percent of Nantong's intended purchase orders.

Affected by COVID-19, the value of deals reached at this year's CIIE was $70.72 billion, down 2.6 percent year-on-year.

About 150,000 square meters of exhibition space has already been booked for next year's CIIE, according to Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.
