Rudong's economy maintains stable momentum

The economy of Rudong county – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – has reportedly maintained robust development momentum in the year to date.

In the first three quarters, the county recorded regional GDP of 95.16 billion yuan ($14.88 billion), a growth of 10.3 percent over the same period last year, the Rudong county statistics bureau announced at a news conference on Oct 26.

The news conference was told that Rudong made solid progress in the development of its agriculture, industry and services sector.

During the Jan-Sept period, the total output value of Rudong's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery industries reached 11 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent. Their industrial added value above a designated size in the period increased by 14 percent year-on-year, while the taxable sales of the service industry hit 105.67 billion yuan, up 7.5 percent.

In the first nine months, Rudong generated total retail sales of consumer goods of 35.55 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 22.2 percent and achieved a 7.7-percent increase in fixed asset investment over the same period last year.

The foreign trade growth rate in the first three quarters in the county turned from negative to positive, with the import-export volume at 31.76 billion yuan, up 7.4 percent year-on-year.

Moving forwards, Rudong plans to make further efforts to normalize its novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control – as well as strive to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the economy, to complete the annual targets for economic and social development.
