Sweet-scented osmanthus in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, is expected to begin blooming this week, according to local plant specialist Ju Weidong.
Sweet-scented osmanthus usually blooms in spring and autumn and its fragrance only lasts seven days or so. It can only flower in low temperatures.
Although it has entered October, high temperature still dominates the city, which lured other flowers, including peach flowers, magnolia flower, and Chinese flowering crabapple, into blooming.
