The Qidong Children's Library, a new cultural landmark in the county-level city of Qidong – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – started trail operations on Sept 30.

Located in the cultural and sports center, close to Diehu Park in Qidong, the library broke ground in January 2020. With a floor space of over 7,000 square meters and over 1,000 reading seats, it is a modern public cultural space with a sense of design and space.

The library – which boasts four floors – is mainly designed for children's book borrowing and reading, as well as associated activities. But there is also adult book borrowing and reading on offer, as well as facilities for digital reading experiences, reading exchanges, conferences and seminars.

A large reading area has been established facing Diehu Lake outside, with lots of seats, an elegant environment and broad open spaces. This has been designed to provide a much more comfortable reading experience for visitors.
