During the recent National Day holiday from Oct 1-7, Chongchuan district – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – achieved 730 million yuan ($113.4 million) in sales, a year-on-year increase of 19.2 percent, according to data from key wholesale and retail, accommodation, and catering enterprises in the district.

According to statistics, the four major business circles in Chongchuan – Nandajie Street, Zhongnan, Wulonghui, and Beidajie Street – generated 620 million yuan in total sales and received 4.38 million visitors, up 14.2 percent and 22.9 percent, respectively.

The Nandajie Street business circle held a promotional event for time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritage items, attracted 1.53 million visitors, and generated 245 million yuan in sales, both ranking first among the four business circles.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the consumption market in Chongchuan declined in August. After a brief period of recovery, the revenue of key sample catering enterprises in the district all showed a trend of growth during the seven-day break, with an average growth rate of 17.3 percent.

The increasing number of one-stop platforms providing business-tourism-culture and dining-accommodation-travel services accelerated the recovery of Chongchuan's service spending market, according to an official from the district's commerce bureau.

In order to ensure the stability of commodity prices, commercial and trade companies in Chongchuan made adequate preparations for the supply of daily necessities during the festival before the holiday.
