According to the Nantong municipal urban management bureau, the lighting project along the Haohe River scenic area won first place in the 2020 China Association of Lighting Industry's Landscape Lighting Awards, local media reported on Sept 9.

It also won the 2021 Asian Lighting Design Awards and first place in the Lighting Engineering Design Awards granted by the China Illuminating Engineering Society.

Surrounding the old city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, the Haohe River is regarded as the city's "emerald necklace". With a history of over 1,000 years, the river is China's best preserved ancient moat and is located at the heart of the city.

The urban management bureau and the municipal and garden bureau in Nantong worked together to launch the night scenery lighting upgrading project at the Haohe River scenic area. A night cruise was also introduced.

The tranquil nighttime scenery of the Haohe River scenic area has injected new vitality into Nantong and improved the city's night views while bringing a new nighttime experience to visitors.
