The Qidong Biotechnology Park in Nantong city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – has reportedly attracted more than 20 sci-tech projects in the life sciences field since the start of the year, whose companies have eagerly signed up to move them there.

Their areas of operation cover medical equipment, high-value consumables, medical device CDMO platforms, drug developments, diagnostic reagents, production of preparations and genetic testing, among others.

One of the main projects is the Qidong base for the Shanghai Interventional Medical Device Engineering Technology Research Center.

The park has reportedly been able to clinch such premier projects by taking advantage of the spillover effect from the nearby "pharmacy valley" located in Zhangjiang Science City in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.

The Qidong Biotechnology Park was established in October 2019 with a total planned area of 6.7 square kilometers. It is located relatively close to Shanghai's "pharmacy valley" and is just a 50-minute drive from Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

Qidong is said to attach great importance to the life sciences and healthcare sector and has positioned it as one of its two leading industries – the other being the offshore and heavy equipment industry.
