Some orchardists were busy picking ripe grapes for customers who came to buy them in the greenhouse of the Nantong Urban Agricultural Park on Aug 20.
Located in northern Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, east of the Nantong West High-speed Railway Station, the Nantong Urban Agricultural Park covers an area of about 36,000 mu (2,400 hectares) and contains multiple areas of agriculture, science popularization, culture, and tourism.
"This was a great year for grapes. The yield per mu is nearly 25,000 kilograms, higher than the previous year," said Fu Ganhua, a grower who has over 30 years of grape growing experience.
Fu is a model worker in Nantong and was once recognized as a leader in the development of agriculture through scientific and technological means. Through the application of organic fertilizer and improved soil, the grapes grown by Fu have a good reputation in the local market.
