A research institute focusing on studying and promoting traditional Nantong-made furniture was launched by the School of Art of Nantong University and the Nantong Tongzuo Furniture Museum on July 7.

The institute will promote furniture design and woodworking skills through displays, education, exchanges, and academic research.

Courses will be developed to teach craftsmanship among university students, with the goal of inspiring interest among young designers in this unique type of furniture art, according to a person in charge.
