The Eighth Nantong Campus Art Festival for Primary and Middle School Students was held in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, on July 5.

The orchestra of the city's children's performing art troupe won first place by performing Nantong Yinxiang (Impression of Nantong) and will take part in the Jiangsu provincial art competition on behalf of Nantong in late August.

Nantong Yinxiang was produced by Qian Shenying, a Nantong composer and associate professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

It was based on traditional folk tunes in the Nantong region and performed in a way to combine tradition and modernity.

The orchestra of the city's children's performing art troupe has more than 60 members, 53 of whom took part in the performance and all of whom are primary school students.
