Nantong 3rd People's Hospital – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – was founded in 1962 as the Nantong Infectious Diseases Hospital. It has evolved into a comprehensive 3A-grade hospital with top-flight specialties, integrating the functions of medical services, education and research. It serves as the Third Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, the Nantong Clinical Medical School of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is regarded as a model for carrying out TCM work among China's comprehensive hospitals.

The hospital is on a site covering 51,682 square meters and its buildings have a floor space of nearly 70,000 sq m. The facility currently has nearly 1,200 beds open to the public and more than 1,300 employees and consists of two outpatient departments, 49 clinical medico-technical departments and three community health service stations.

The hospital boasts three provincial clinical key specialties, one municipal clinical medical center and nine municipal medical key disciplines represented by the department of critical care medicine, surgery and digestive epidemiology.
