The Ministry of Commerce recently published a list of 105 newly recognized national bases with transformed and upgraded foreign trade. According to the Nantong municipal commerce bureau, the city's Rudong county received the honor for its safety labor care products.

According to incomplete statistics, Rudong has 612 enterprises engaged in the labor safety products industry and more than 400 manufacturers, including over 150 foreign trade companies.

In 2020, the combined output value of enterprises in the industry in Rudong was 15.5 billion yuan ($2.4 billion). The annual self-operated export value of labor safety products was $590 million, accounting for a quarter of Rudong's total exports and 30 percent of the country's total exports of labor safety products.

With Fortune 500 enterprise Honeywell setting up a branch in the county and dozens of other well-known enterprises from home and abroad setting up operations there, Rudong has managed to attract a large number of related supporting enterprises.
