In a bid to bolster the development of rural tourism – and carry out its rural revitalization strategy – the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission recently picked the 2021 provincial key rural tourism villages.

After evaluation, 36 villages were singled out and received awards at the opening ceremony of the 12th Jiangsu Rural Tourism Festival – held on June 9 in Nanjing, capital city of East China's Jiangsu province.

Among those honored was Daxingzhen village, located in Huiping town in Qidong – a county-level city administered by the prefecture-level metropolis of Nantong in Jiangsu province.

In recent years, Daxingzhen village has vigorously promoted its own distinctive style of rural tourism. It developed the former residence of Shen Yigong, the Daziran Ecotourism Resort, the Yinxiang Shadi (Impression Sand) Leisure Farm and other scenic spots, attracting numerous visitors from Shanghai.

The listed key rural tourism villages will reportedly get priority for provincial policy support in terms of project construction, brand building, market promotions and credit support. The outstanding ones will also be backed to participate in the selection of national key rural tourism villages.

At present, Qidong has had two provincial key rural tourism villages – Daxingzhen village in Huiping town and Lianxinggang village in Yuantuojiao Resort.
