The Nantong branch of China Mobile, one of three telecoms giants in China, recently launched an application that allows people to book appointments in advance to be vaccinated against COVID-19, local media outlets reported.
Local residents can enter the app by scanning a QR code and book an appointment at an exact time and location on the very next day.
"I made an appointment yesterday for an inoculation at 9 am today and received the dose without having to wait in line," said a resident surnamed Liu.
The app is currently being used in many sub-districts in Chongchuan district, as well as Qidong, Rugao, and Rudong county, and has been praised for its convenience.
Nantong started a mass free COVID-19 inoculation program in response to the country's vaccination campaign in March.
Mass vaccinations continued across the city throughout the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which ran from June 12 to 14. A total of 4,393 medical workers stuck to their posts at 110 vaccination sites to ensure that people could be vaccinated as soon as possible.
As of noon on June 14, the city had administered more than 4.47 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the local health authority.
About 42.55 percent of its residents had been inoculated with at least one dose of the vaccine, while 18.61 percent had received the full course.
