The 2021 Nantong Rural Tourism Festival will kick off at Xiaoyangkou Resort in Rudong county, Nantong on June 11, local media outlets reported.

Organizers said that this year's event will focus on promoting tourism resources, intangible cultural heritage items and agricultural specialties in Nantong's rural area through a series of activities such as exhibitions, food competitions and on-water performances.

The new tourist service center of the resort will also start operating that day, with various performances, including acrobatics, hot balloon flying, and flyboard shows scheduled.

An on-water carnival will also be held to meet the increasing demand for recreation during the summer.

Xiaoyangkou Resort, as the first provincial-level resort in Nantong, covers a core area of 40 square kilometers and boasts a 15-km coastal line.

The resort has more than 1,000 kinds of seafood and is a habitat for many rare migratory birds. It is also home to four types of hot springs with temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius, 76 C, 82 C, and 92 C.
