The launch of a large forest park in the county-level city of Qidong in Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province on June 2 marked the launch of the "most beautiful river coastline" project proposed by the city.
The forest park, covering an area of about 207.8 hectares and including a total length of 4.35 kilometers of embankments, is poised to become an ecological restoration demonstration area exemplifying the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.
The entrance is located on the south side of Jianghai South Road and the park will be comprised of a river-view corridor, three forest oxygen zones, core recreation and wetland conservation areas, and six scenic spots.
The "most beautiful river coastline" project entails 178 kilometers of river and shoreline incorporating river and sea embankment highways. It will consist of "one road, three sections, and twelve parks" according to the Implementation Opinions on the Construction of a Riverside & Coastal Ecological Landscape Belt in Nantong.
