Gu Ruming, a member of the Communist Party of China in Duntou town, Hai'an – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, spent more than eight months creating 16 paper-cutting works to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.
This year is the centenary of the founding of the CPC. To show his love for the Party and the country, Gu decided to incorporate blessings into his works. Last July, he started working on the project. He selected several important events and great figures from the First National Congress of the CPC to the 19th.
As old as the People's Republic of China itself, Gu was previously a teacher at Duntou middle school and has been a member of the Party for 50 years. He is also a member of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, an academician of the Shanghai National Painting Academy and an inheritor of Hai'an paper-cutting – an intangible cultural heritage of Nantong.
