An ancient catalpa bungei tree in Nantong Middle School of Jiangsu province recently ushered in its blooming season, creating an irresistible attraction for students and teachers.

The tree is more than 600 years old. It is said that a monk named Huaikuan planted the tree in the then Tianning Temple during the Xuande Period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Nantong Middle School of Jiangsu province was founded in 1909 by Zhang Jian, an industrial magnate and scholar.

The tree has now become an inseparable part of the school, symbolizing its glory and vitality over the past century.
