The Jiangsu Province Qidong Technical Secondary School, located in the county-level city of Qidong in East China's Jiangsu province, scored some top results at the recent fourth China-UK STEAM Innovation Competition UK Finals, local media reported on April 12.

The school's delegation scooped up two grand prizes and one first prize in the competition.

Moreover, two students won the Sustainable Development Ambassador Award. This is granted by the International Innovation Joint Committee – under the auspices of UNESCO – and the teacher team was awarded for guiding young people to make positive contributions to global sustainable development.

The China-UK STEAM Innovation Competition reportedly aims to cultivate teenagers' practical abilities, cooperative consciousness, innovative thinking and global vision.

Jointly sponsored by British universities, non-profit organizations and other bodies, it provides exchanges and learning opportunities for the students.

In the competition, participants were required to make real-time presentations in English for the evaluation experts, through video links.

Zhang Jiaxin, a student majoring in Computer Numerical Control and Cui Jingyuan, a student majoring in electromechanical engineering at Qidong Technical Secondary School, gave presentations in English on their city's innovative measures in the sustainable development of the seafood and hardware and electric tool industries.
