Plum flowers recently started blooming at Seyuan Garden in Nantong, bringing color and vitality to the freezing winter.

There are three plum plantations in the garden, with one besides the tomb of Zhang Jian, an industrial magnate and scholar in modern China, as well as another two in the southern part of the garden.

According to Feng Xueyi, a manager of the garden, the blooming plum is named Taige, which means terrace and tower. The plum has its name as it blooms out of an existing plum flower, forming a shape of a terrace, which is rare.

"The garden will see an overall flowering season in early or mid-March. This ideal time to admire the blossoms will last more than a month," said Feng.
