Chongchuan district in the prefecture-level city of Nantong – in East China's Jiangsu province – recently announced that it had got the green light to establish an innovation and practice center, under the auspices of a major university in the provinces' capital city of Nanjing.

The Nantong Institute of the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications received approval to open a provincial post-doctorate innovation and practice station in the district, local media reported on Jan 4.

To date, the district has had 15 post-doctorate scientific research stations and innovation and practice bases, six of which are State-level post-doctorate scientific research stations and nine are provincial bases for innovation and practice.

Launched in 2017, the Nantong Institute has focused on the development of the integrated circuits or IC industry and it initially established a one-stop IC packaging and testing services platform.

The approval to establish a post-doctorate practice base will further expand the training and development of top people in companies, as well as technology research and industry incubation. It will also accelerate the integration of industry-university-research-applications, as well as boost the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

Officials said high-level post-doctorate workstations have become an important agent linking business with universities and research institutes.

In recent years, Chongchuan has rolled out a raft of policies and measures to train and recruit topflight people, to help build a better district.
