An exhibition and performing center featuring the Rugao puppet show and other local intangible cultural heritage items will begin operations at the World of Plantings in Rugao, Nantong on Oct 16.

The center, which consists of a puppet experience museum and a Puppet Theater, covers a total floor area of nearly 1,500 square meters and can accommodate 200 guests.

According to an executive of the center, there will be a dozen professional puppet show performers working in the center. Besides performing, these professionals will also engage in research of the traditional art form.

The center is part of the local government's efforts to promote Rugao's traditional culture and build the city into a national model of "all-in-one" tourism.
