Mijanur Rahman, a Bangladeshi student at Nantong Vocational College of Science and Technology, recently received a letter of appreciation from the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh, which commended his contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in China and his home country.
When the outbreak started in China early this year, Rahman decided to stay in Nantong to continue with his studies. In May, when the situation became serious in his home country, he used his scholarship funds to purchase a number of test kits and N95 masks before sending them to Bangladesh.
These experiences were recorded in a video, which won an "outstanding award" at the Short Video Contest for Foreigners in Jiangsu in August.
The video was also screened at the official website of the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh, allowing more people to learn about foreign students' lives in China amid the epidemic.
Along with the letter were masks and several gifts with Chinese characteristics.
"This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Bangladesh. I feel very proud to receive such an honor on this special occasion," said Rahman.
