The opening ceremony for the major projects of the third quarter in Qidong and the cornerstone laying ceremony for the Hongtong nuclear and wind power equipment manufacturing project were held in Qidong marine engineering and shipping industrial park on Sept 19.

Facing the impact created by the COVID-19 pandemic on economic and social development, Qidong has promoted the landing of a batch of major and high-quality projects since the start of 2020.

Construction started this year on 22 projects, with investment of nearly 12 billion yuan ($1.8 billion) covering the key industries of new energy, equipment manufacturing and modern logistics.

Shanghai Hongtong Machinery Equipment Co Ltd has invested 2 billion yuan in the Hongtong nuclear and wind power project. The project's covered area will feature newly built plants, office buildings and dormitories on 110,000 square meters. After completion, it will produce 30,000 tons of metal products a year, with annual output value of 2 billion yuan.
