An activity focusing on Chinese medical culture was held in Jiezhizha village in Yongxing sub-district, Chongchuan district on Aug 4. It was organized by Nantong Daily agency, Nantong Chinese medicine hospital and Jiezhizha village, with the aim of promoting health awareness and increasing residents' understanding of the future of Chinese medical culture.
Wang Yi, a doctor from Nantong Chinese medicine hospital, explained commonly used acupuncture points to elderly people in the Nantong dialect during the process.
In addition, Wang showed how the effects of acupuncture points could treat common health problems. This showed residents now they can relieve some symptoms through points massage based on their own situations.
Another doctor, Sun Can, prepared various medicinal materials in advance to help the elderly have a better understanding of Chinese medicine through watching, smelling, tasting and touching various materials.
"As more and more people pay attention to health maintenance, Chinese medicine is gaining more popularity, especially among the elderly," a person in charge of Jiezhizha village said. "If the villagers think it's helpful, we will cooperate with Nantong Daily to hold more of these activities."
