Huang Gaihong and Deng Zhiyan, who both come from impoverished households in Moziqiao town, Yangxian county, Shaanxi province, are now working at a local operating gown factory and can earn between 60 yuan ($8.7) and 100 yuan per day.

The factory, based at a relocation site for villagers from remote areas, is part of poverty alleviation efforts jointly made by Nantong and local governments in 2019. It has created about 100 jobs for locals.

Not far from the site, the Rugao Industrial Park is under construction, and has received 39.95 million yuan in investment from the Jiangsu-Shaanxi cooperative fund for poverty alleviation.

Since Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, paired with Yangxian county in 2017, it has provided 159 million yuan to support 123 poverty alleviation projects in the county, benefiting more than 39,000 people.

The city has also dispatched four government officials and more than 60 professionals in education, medical treatment and agriculture to help promote the county's development.

Eight companies from East China have set up operations in the county, bringing more than 50 million yuan in investment and creating more than 300 jobs.

A total of 346 impoverished people have been introduced to work in Jiangsu, while another 203 got employed in Shaanxi province.

Rugao has also made efforts to promote agricultural products from Yangxian to the eastern market by integrating online and offline exhibitions and sales. To date, the sales revenues have reached 12.11 million yuan.
