Aimed at optimizing transport and improving people's travel conditions, Rudong, a county in Nantong, has actively promoted the upgrading of urban and rural roads and accelerated emergence of a transportation hub to meet increasing public demand for improved traffic flow. The reconstruction of Jianghai Middle Road, one of the urban main roads, is listed as a people-oriented project this year.

In addition to improving municipal roads, Rudong has also sped up construction of a traffic hub. After nearly two years' of work, the new coach station which was invested with 340 million yuan ($48.1 million) has entered the final stage. It is scheduled to put into use during the National Day holiday this year.

Seamless connections between long and short-distance highway passenger transport, urban buses, urban-rural buses and taxis will be achieved by then. Relying on regional advantages, the new coach station will operate with the mode of "station + complex", exploiting commercial and industrial functions.

To open up the urban-rural transport network, Rudong county strives to promote the transformation and upgrading of public transport integration between urban and rural areas. Bus depots in Fengli, Yuanzhuang and Bencha towns are being planned. Eighty percent of the supporting facilities construction project of Bingfang passenger station has been completed. Moreover, Rudong is accelerating construction of passenger transportation informationization, providing passengers with enquiry and transfer services and new bus stops and routes.
