The Rugao Silk Carpet Art Museum was officially registered at the civil affairs bureau of Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on June 12.

It is the first silk carpet museum in China and the second in the world, following the Carpet Museum of Iran.

The museum is owned by Li Yukun, a Chinese silk carpet artist, and is home to 210 sets of silk carpets, including many featuring paintings by renowned artists from China and abroad.

The museum is committed to the production, collection, exhibition, and artistic exchange of silk carpets. Its works are featured at several foreign museums, have been sent as national gifts to the United Nations, and can also be seen at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

According to local authorities, there are currently four registered museums in Rugao, with the other three being the Rugao Museum, Dr Henry C Lee Museum of Forensic Investigation, and Jiangsu Bonsai Museum.
