Nantong is home to a number of brands which feature a long history, rich culture and independent intellectual property rights, several of which were awarded during the opening ceremony.

To date, the city has six time-honored brands with national titles, 16 with provincial titles and 24 with municipal titles, according to Li Ling, director of Nantong bureau of commerce. She expressed hope that local brands can combine tradition with modern technology.

On the same day, seven local time-honored brands provided gifts to nearly 40 local medical workers who contributed to the battle against novel coronavirus in Hubei province.

The city has hosted a series of consumption promotion activities since the beginning of April. By the end of May, people had spent over 170 million yuan ($24.04 million), with the help of coupons.

The evening portion of the fair, along with the existing nighttime activities held by the district, is expected to boost the nighttime economy in the city.
