An exhibition focusing on the aesthetics of life in the region south of the Yangtze River opened at the Nantong Museum on April 28.
The event is hosted by the Nantong Museum and Zhejiang Provincial Museum and aims to showcase the exquisite life people lived in ancient Zhejiang, the cradle of China's Wuyue culture.
It features nine displays – guqin (an ancient seven-stringed zither), weiqi (known in English as the board game Go), calligraphy, paintings, poetry, liquor, flowers, tea and incense, with an array of related artworks.
A live stream tour of the exhibition was held on the opening day, with Cai Qin, deputy curator of the Zhejiang museum, serving as the guide and explaining the aesthetic inspirations behind the architecture, furniture, clothing, food, and other everyday items used by Zhejiang locals in ancient times.
The exhibition will run until June 14. Kunqu Opera, guqin performances and lectures on Chinese tea culture will also be held.
