A 60-ton tractor successfully carried a 280-ton transformer across the 50-meter Qinhe Bridge in Tongzhou district, Nantong on March 16.

The transformer substation in Liuqiao town, Tongzhou district plays a significant role in the city's power supply. However, its old transformers had aged and new ones needed to be delivered.

The tractor has a total of 96 wheels and weighs 60 tons and transported multiple transformers weighing 280 tons.

According to a worker at Nantong Yuanhang Transportation Co, the tractor had to cross four bridges, among which the Qinhe Bridge was the longest.

The district's road management center, along with local technical departments, investigated the whole route in advance and carefully examined it to ensure the tractor could pass through safely.

A special technique was used to distribute the weight of the tractor across the bridge. Sleepers were set up at both ends of the bridge and an iron plate was placed on the sleepers, which the tractor then drove on top of.

The first batch of transformers had been successfully delivered by the morning of March 17.
