Nantong expresses concern for Chinese students studying overseas
As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread globally, the foreign affairs office of the Nantong government sent a letter to students from the city studying overseas on March 10, wishing them safety and good health amid the outbreak.
The letter suggested that all students stay up to date on the current epidemic situation in the cities and countries they reside in and abide by relevant regulations.
The students are also advised to take protective measures, such as wearing masks and washing hands regularly to avoid being infected.
If they suspect or are confirmed to be infected, they are required to promptly report to their schools and local Chinese embassies.
Students are not encouraged to suspend their studies and return home due to the outbreak. If needed, they are required to inform the local foreign affairs departments in advance and truthfully report their health conditions, travel history and other information, such as passport numbers and home address in Nantong.
Upon arrival, they are required to complete necessary epidemic prevention procedures, such as having their temperature taken, filling out the health declaration form and undergoing a 14-day isolated medical observation period.
The letter also noted that a new health declaration form was officially put into use at all Chinese customs offices on March 3. Those who deliberately conceal or provide false information which results in the spread of the epidemic will be held liable under relevant provisions of criminal law.
