An exhibition of circular fans and ancient Chinese ornaments opened on Jan 14 at the Jiangsu Jianghai Museum in Haimen, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.
Nearly 100 circular fans produced by young artist Li Jing and his team are currently on display along with more than 200 ancient Chinese ornaments.
During the launch ceremony for the event, a craftswoman from Suzhou showcased her skill in kesi, a traditional Chinese silk weaving technique, and The Peony Pavilion, one of China's most famous Kunqu Opera classics, was staged as well.
Li also donated a circular fan featuring kesi, a butterfly, and a silver carving to the museum.
According to Liang Donglei, curator of the Haimen Art Gallery, the event is meant to change the way people view traditional art museums and provide a platform for young artists to showcase their innovative ideas.
More than 200 people, including inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items and representatives from textile companies, took part in the activity on opening day.
Organizers said the exhibition will be open to the public for free until Feb 14.
