Chongchuan makes progress in increasing living standards

Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, made significant progress in improving living standards in 2019.

The district has been promoting new policies and taking effective measures to improve employment rates and support impoverished people.

Over the past year, it created around 12,000 job opportunities and provided support for around 1,800 start-ups. The registered urban unemployment rate did not surpass 3 percent.

Employment-related Information was provided to unemployed people and graduates in the district, and 264 recruitment fairs were held over the past year, said a worker at Chongchuan district's human resources service center.

In the past three years, a total of 45,250 workers participated in training courses organized by the district's bureau of human resources and social security. The courses involved over 10 types of work, including childcare, tea-making, 3D printing, and more.

Chongchuan district is also dedicated to building a strong senior care system. In the past year, four senior care institutions have been established, and the number of nursing beds for every 1,000 seniors rose to 39.4.

In addition, three new kindergartens started operating on Sept 1, 2019 with the support of talented teachers from several prestigious local kindergartens.

The district government has also been focusing on the construction of relocation housing. Over 10 types of houses are currently available, featuring plenty of greenery and underground parking lots.
