Seven Bangladeshi students joined their Chinese peers to study dough modeling, an intangible cultural heritage item, during a cultural activity held on Jan 6 at the Nantong College of Science and Technology in Nantong, Jiangsu province to welcome the Chinese New Year, which will fall on Jan 25 this year.
During the activity, Chinese students explained the history of dough modeling and taught the Bangladeshi students how to craft their own dough models.
As the Year of the Rat is approaching, the students decided to create rat sculptures using colorful dough made from sticky rice powder.
"I had laid eyes on such figures at scenic spots in times past, but scarcely knew a thing about them," said one student, "I was thoroughly amused by today's activity, as it allowed me to form a true connection with Chinese culture."
