Insulated robots recently sprayed insulating coating on electric wires in Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province.

Workers at a local power supply company used vehicles to place the insulated robot weighing over 35 kilograms onto the electrical wiring to spray the insulating paint.

After the robot was properly placed, it was controlled via a remote control. The wires would be coated with paint as the robot moved across them.

"It takes only 15 minutes for a robot to spray insulating coating on a 50-meter electric wire. If several robots worked at the same time, efficiency would be greatly improved," said a worker from Tongzhou's power supply department.

The robots can also be used for insulation transformation around local rivers to reduce electric shock incidents.
