Qidong hosts construction skills competition

A construction skills competition recently held in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province gathered 221 workers from 19 local construction companies.

The competition was hosted by Qidong's federation of trade unions, its human resources and social security bureau, and its housing construction bureau. It was intended to spread craftsmanship, promote talent cultivation, and further high-quality development of the local construction industry.

The construction workers were specialized in different types of work, including wall masonry, welding, circuit operation, woodworking, and more, and were divided into 11 groups.

Workers had to finish their targeted construction work within time limits. They made full use of every minute and strove to present perfect works, each showcasing their precision and excellent skills.

Huang Xin from Qidong Construction Group was the first to complete his work in the electrician group. Wei Yin'ge, a waterproof worker from Jiangsu Yinzhou Construction Group was the only female worker in the competition and was the first to finish her tasks, spending only 35 minutes.

Qidong, known as the city of architecture, has a prosperous and promising construction industry.

A total of eight projects of Nantong No. 2 Construction Group and Jiangsu Qi'an Construction Group, two Qidong-based companies, were awarded at the recent Luban Prizes awards ceremony.
