A 24-hour self-service center for government affairs recently started operating in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, according to local officials.

The new center is west of the city's existing government services center at No 150, South Gongnong Road. It covers an area of about 100 square meters and is installed with 14 self-service terminals.

People can check and print their housing fund certificates, real estate information and social security records, as well as print general value-added tax  invoices and renew travel permits to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Each machine is marked with clear operating instructions, allowing people to handle their affairs independently after work or on holidays.

The self-service center is connected to a manned service center. People can enter the former from the latter during working hours.

Otherwise, they should first prove their identities with ID cards and facial recognition before getting access to the self-service center through its west door.

Officials said customers can dial 0513-59001088 for help.
