An agricultural products store for poverty alleviation officially opened on Dec 19 on the sixth floor of the Fenghuang Cultural Square in Nantong city, East China's Jiangsu province.

The store is a key part of the local government's efforts to help people in poverty-stricken areas live a better life.

It features three exhibition areas for 417 kinds of agricultural products from 12 poverty-stricken counties in northern Jiangsu province and Hanzhong city, in northwestern Shaanxi province.

The products include various rice, oils, eggs, black fungus, mushrooms and honey. The store also cooks some of the products and allows buyers to taste them before placing the order on an online shopping platform run by the government.

According to the operator of the store, the products are supplied directly by the production area and sold at a lower price than that in ordinary stores and supermarkets.

Local labor unions, companies, organizations and government departments are the targeted customers.
