The unveiling ceremony for an optoelectronic science research institute established by Peking University was held at the Nantong International Convention Center in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 30.

The event was attended by Nantong government officials and experts from Peking University.

According to a cooperation agreement signed between the two parties on Nov 7, the institute will focus on the research and development of optoelectronic technology and on training skilled workers in the field. It will also hold regular academic forums.

It is hoped that the institute will make significant discoveries related to high-end laser devices, ultra high-resolution imaging systems, and nano-optoelectronics chips.

To that end, Peking University will provide personnel and scientific research support, while the Nantong government will implement preferential policies for financing, land use, project application, and the recruitment of skilled workers.
