A cooperation agreement was recently signed between the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences of Xiamen University and the Economic Development Zone of Yangkou Port in Rudong, Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The two sides plan to cooperate in innovation and talent cultivation, integrating their strong industrial foundations with academic resources.

Xiamen University's oceanography department was founded along with the university in 1921 and has since developed into a key national discipline. The college has also become one of China's top research platforms.

Three of the college's five departments have established cooperative relations with Yangkou Port in wind power, the protection of oceans, and new anti-rot materials.

Yangkou Port is striving to develop an energy center and transform itself into an integrated industrial port. Its cooperation with Xiamen University is expected to help attract more talent and advanced technologies to accelerate its development.
