Five regions in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were included on a list of 197 national textile industrial cluster pilot zones, which was recently released by the China National Textile and Apparel Council.

Haimen Industrial Park, Hai'an county, Tongzhou district, as well as Chuanjiang town and Xianfeng community governed by the district made the list.

Nantong is the largest home textile center in China and has developed a comprehensive industrial system involving home textiles, clothing, chemical fibers, cotton, printing and dyeing, wool, and silk.

The high-end textile industry is one of the city's three major drivers of industrial development.

By 2018, the city was home to 1,054 high-end textile companies above the designated size – those with annual revenues of 20 million yuan ($2.86 million) or higher. The combined output of these companies was valued at 220.78 billion yuan, accounting for 15.5 percent of the total industrial output of companies above the designated size in the city.
