Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province was named a favorite tourist destination for Shanghai residents at the 31st Shanghai Tourism Sales Conference held in Shanghai on Nov 18.

Representatives of major scenic spots and hotels in Nantong took part in the event to promote their resources and products and discuss cooperation with hundreds of travel agencies in Shanghai.

Nantong Adventure Land, Rudong Xiaoyangkou Tourist Resort, and Nantong Forest Safari Park also made the list of Shanghai residents' top 10 favorite scenic spots.

In recent years, Nantong has been committed to building itself into Shanghai's northern gate, accelerating construction on a high-speed railway link and highways to better connect it to the city.

Due to its convenient transportation links, the city has become a popular destination for Shanghai residents looking to take short trips. 

People from Shanghai make up a large portion of tourists in Nantong, and many participated in a recently concluded harvest festival in Haimen and a Chinese mitten-crab feast in Hai'an.
