Chongchuan celebrates International Students' Day
An activity was recently held in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province to celebrate International Students' Day, which falls on Nov 17.
Residents in the district and students of Nantong Vocational University (NVU) participated in the activity, making ceramic peace doves and delivering a message of peace.
A teacher at NVU taught participants the steps to make pottery during the activity. He put the prepared pottery clay into a mold of a peace dove and then separated the model from the mold after about 30 minutes.
Participants also learned about the history and development of ceramics, as well as the basic skills for making pottery.

An overseas student from Nigeria said that it was her first time to make pottery and she learned a lot through the activity.
"The traditional skills showcase the wisdom of Chinese people and it was meaningful to make ceramic peace doves with overseas students," said a resident of Chongchuan district.
International Students' Day is set in honor the university students' movement against fascism, as well as to promote peace, democracy, freedom, and progress.
